20 Years and Counting for Tyler Pipe’s Cathy Parker
October 27, 2015
Did you know that every year in the United States over one million people are diagnosed with cancer? Foundations like the American Cancer Society (ACS) make it their mission to help raise funds for research and to increase breast cancer awareness. To show their support, the Tyler team held their own Western Pink Out Day on Friday, October 16. Team Members wore their pink attire and spruced it up with a little Texas flare with pink hats and bandanas.
This year they celebrated one of their own, Cathy Parker, who was diagnosed with breast cancer twenty years ago. “I have worked with my friend Cathy for three years now and was not aware that she had ever been diagnosed with cancer,” said Rod Burrus. The celebration this year was dedicated to Cathy and it could not have come at a better time. Cathy told them that she went to see her Oncologist and this year marked the 20th anniversary of her being “cancer free.”
Cathy said that one of the most important things that you can do for yourself and your family is to have yearly mammograms and consciously decide to check yourself. Remember, early detection of cancer is vital if you are going to beat cancer.
