Another M&H Valve Product Sighting

The USS Monitor Conservation Project in Newport News, Virginia recently contacted M&H Valve about a valve they recovered from the USS Monitor.  The Monitor was the first ironclad ship built by the Union Navy during the Civil War and was launched to counter the Confederate ironclad Virginia that was laying waste to their wooden fleet and threatening to sail up to Washington D.C.

The recovered valve was connected to the ship’s condenser (part of the steam engine) and marked McNab, Carr and Co. which was the precursor to McNab and Harlin, later to become M&H Valve.  Talk about for generations and being a part of history!
